The second of our March AIB meetings focussed on behaviour and attitudes, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), improving attendance, raising standards and staffing. Melvina Stephen, Assistant Principal, presented to us on the implementation and impact of the behaviour policy, including the data for rewards and sanctions. We asked questions about resources, ensuring the policy is applied consistently and the effectiveness of different strategies. Aaron Davies, Assistant Principal, and Nicole Wong, SENDCo, updated us on the progress towards the SEND action plan and the next steps for making further improvements to the provision. Nicola Yates, Assistant Principal, presented the progress data for year 11, and we asked questions about how the faculties use the information to support each student to meet their potential. Gareth Massey, Assistant Principal, spoke to us about the latest attendance data and how attendance for disadvantaged students and students with SEND is being improved. Ben Wilson, Associate Principal, then updated us on staffing and we discussed welfare and recruitment. We also considered premises, approved both the policy for students unable to attend school due to health reasons and the proposal for uniform for 2022, discussed safeguarding, the Principal’s report, communications and the strategic risk register. I will update you again after our next AIB meeting which will take place in early May.
Best wishes, Sally LaBrooy, Chair of Stantonbury School AIB
