Update from the Stantonbury School Academy Improvement Board (AIB), Meeting 5, 4th March 2022
Our meeting last week was the first of two AIBs during March and our agenda covered a number of important themes. Sharon Lynch, Vice Principal, presented updated plans for a broad and balanced curriculum, and we asked questions about its implementation and the resources needed for delivery. Aaron Davies, Assistant Principal, outlined the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) action plan and we discussed priorities and timescales. We also explored how the plan will incorporate the findings of the SEND review as well as feedback from students and their parents and carers. Rebecca Gowers, Assistant Principal, reported on the latest assessment of the quality of teaching and learning and we asked questions about further embedding processes and practices to ensure consistent quality of teaching. Gareth Massey, Assistant Principal, updated us on the impact of the recent work to improve persistent student absence and we scrutinised the latest attendance data. Katie Shires, Vice Principal, presented some research around harmful sexual behaviours and we discussed how this will inform safeguarding practice. We then reviewed and approved the Data Protection and GDPR policy, the attendance policy and the admissions policy for 2023/24. We finished the meeting with the Principal’s report, communications and the strategic risk register. I will update you again after our next AIB meeting at the end of the month.
Best wishes, Sally LaBrooy, Chair of Stantonbury School AIB
