AIB January 2022 meeting

Our first AIB of the New Year had a special focus on attendance and the English Faculty, alongside our usual standing agenda items such as the Principal’s report, strategic planning, safeguarding and communications. Gareth Massey, Assistant Principal, provided us with some detailed analysis on student attendance, including different year groups and pupil characteristics. We scrutinised the data and the impact of the attendance policy, focussing on students with ‘persistent absence’ (which is when a student has an attendance rate of below 90%) and what is being done to improve their attendance. Gareth will be reporting back to us on progress on this at the next AIB. We welcomed Kathryn Szladicsek, Head of the English Faculty, who reported on the progress that has been made to raise standards in English, and she answered our questions about the next steps to continue to improve across the Faculty. We discussed the forthcoming Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Audit, and finally, reviewed and approved the Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) policy. We will meet again after the half term break, with a special focus on the quality of teaching, behaviour and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Best wishes, Sally LaBrooy, Chair of Stantonbury School AIB.
