We had our third AIB meeting last Friday with another full agenda. Katie Shires, Vice Principal, answered our questions about the findings of the recent safeguarding audit which showed positive improvements and highlighted some areas to further strengthen. Melvina Stephen, Assistant Principal, presented a detailed report about the steps being taken to rapidly improve behaviour and attitudes. We scrutinised the latest behaviour data and spoke about the feedback from the parent/carer and staff surveys. Aaron Davies, Assistant Principal, presented the pupil premium strategy and answered questions about how the recovery funding will be used to focus on pupils most affected by the pandemic. Ben Wilson, Associate Principal, presented the Principal’s report including the improvements being made in teaching and learning, together with attendance, staffing, premises, health and safety and finance. We then reviewed the results of the recent parent/carer and staff surveys, asked about the key themes, how these will be explored and addressed, and how they will be used to help shape policies. This will be something Mr Wilson will be feeding back to you over the next few months. Finally, we reviewed and approved the anti-bullying, health and safety, first aid and exclusions policies. We will meet in January with a special focus on behaviour, attendance and the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Plan.
Best wishes for a peaceful festive period, Sally LaBrooy, Chair of Stantonbury School AIB
