AIB September 2021 meeting

On Thursday 30th September the AIB met for the first time with our Associate Principal Ben Wilson, Executive Principal Jim Parker, the Tove Trust Chief Executive Jamie Clarke and Chair of Tove Trustees Christopher Watt.

The aim of our first meeting was to agree how the AIB will help Stantonbury School achieve rapid school improvement. We discussed our role as a Board and the importance of being open, supportive and challenging - often referred to as being a "critical friend" to the school leadership. We decided how we will focus on the current priorities through a strategic plan, and Mr Wilson updated us on the work to address areas such as teaching and learning, behaviour and attendance. We also agreed how the leadership team will report on safeguarding and reviewed the draft safeguarding policy. We finished by agreeing the importance of communication with stakeholders, including parents, carers, staff and students, and how we will monitor the impact of school improvement through listening to their views alongside analysing and verifying the school’s data.

We will meet again next month to hear about early progress and impact of the work towards the school priorities, including a focus on safeguarding, teaching and learning and behaviour.

Sally LaBrooy, Chair of Stantonbury School AIB
